Guangzhou Shipyard International vinder udbud på bygningen af RoPax færger til NorthLink Ferries

Det blev det kinesiske værft Guangzhou Shipyard International, som vandt det udbud som skotske Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited afholdt omkring bygningen af to RoPax færger til NorthLink Ferries. Aftalen vil blive underskrevet d. 24. marts, når karensperioden på 10 dage er gået.

De to RoPax færger, skal afløse de to nuværende RoRo færger HELLIAR og HILDASAY, på ruten fra Aberdeen til Kirkwall (Orkneyøerne) og Lerwick (Shetlandsøerne).

“These replacement freight vessels will bring additional freight capacity, higher operating speeds and the ability to carry up to 200 passengers on each vessel during peak times – helping address demand for car deck and cabin capacity on these routes. This will enhance the efficiency and reliability of ferry services to better support the priorities of Northern Isles communities and businesses for years to come.”
