Forlaget Ferry Publications har netop udgivet en bog om færgefarten i Kroatien, Montenegro og det tidligere Jugoslavien.

Bogen er på engelsk, og kan bl.a. købes direkte hos forlaget, hvor den koster £22,50.

The first coastal steamship on the Dalmatian Coast began operating in the early-1870s. Since that time, a very large number of fascinatingly diverse passenger vessels, cargo carriers, ferries and cruise ships have served the towns and villages along the length of the eastern side of the Adriatic, linked the many offshore islands and provided connections to and from the main Italian ports. These have flown the Austro-Hungarian, Italian, Yugoslavian, Croatian and Montenegrin flags, among others, and their changing status reflected the region’s often turbulent politics. The consequences for the provision of ferry services of the rise and fall of communist Yugoslavia and of the of the Balkans War and the Croatian War of Independence are recounted, as is the subsequent development of the modern Jadrolinija fleet and also those of its competitors. The book is illustrated with numerous photographs of the many vessels employed, most of which have never previously been published.
