HARBOR CHARGER indsat for New York Waterways

Den nybyggede hybridfærge HARBOR CHARGER blev d. 12. august indsat på ruten mellem Lower Manhattan og Governors Island. HARBOR CHARGER er bygget hos Con­rad Ship­yard i Mor­gan City (Louisiana). Prisen på den nye færge er 33 millioner dollars.

HARBOR CHARGER afløser færgen SAMUEL S COURSEN. Den nye færge reducerer CO2 udledningen med ca. 600 tons årligt. Derudover er det planen at installere landstrømsanlæg, som vil betyde en reduktion på yderligere 800 tons CO2 om året.
